i think you missed a word there in that first tyler durden quote. but seriously, stephen campbell was dead on. i think it is entirely too easy to find our identity in things other than the fact that we are His and He is ours and we are His kingdom of priests. i think it would be more difficult to confuse that identity with the shallow facets of our lives (plumber, nerd, 30k/year, american, etc.) if we lived in a country where we weren't free to worship whatever God we choose. if saying you were a Christian meant you could get killed, then maybe it would be more defining for us. instead, we choose to worship these other things that then begin to identify us, as if they mattered at all.

Thanks brother!

This book is completely changing the way I think about state all together! I love state and politics, but it is not good for me. I feel kind of like Yoder. He says (sometimes) that he doesn't preach non-violence because it it easy for him, but that he is violent needs accountability. That is me with politics.

I also love your post about Christian vs Disciple. This is becoming so obvious as I see the Christian sub-culture completely forget the Kingdom.

www.wikichoice.com

it will fully launch soon, but its a site dedicated to show how our purchasing power can change the world. in a wikipedia type setting, it will bring to light companies that still use slave labor and unethical practices (i.e. almost the entire chocolate industry!), and then praise and urge you to buy from companies that operate with the highest integrity.

once its fully running, its a site everyone needs to see, to see what our purchases really does on a worldwide scale.
